Accessibility Statement

Dr. Beata Lewis, MD and the drlewis.com website are committed to making this site usable by as many people as possible, including visitors who use assistive technology. We treat accessibility as ongoing work rather than a one-time project, and we welcome reports of barriers you run into.

Conformance status

We aim for drlewis.com to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We do not currently claim full conformance: parts of this site have not yet been tested with assistive technology, and the known gaps below are still open.

Measures we have taken

  • “Skip to navigation” and “Skip to main content” links at the top of every page.
  • A declared page language so screen readers pronounce content correctly.
  • Alternative text on site imagery, with purely decorative images marked so assistive technology skips them.
  • Landmark roles for the header, navigation, main content and footer regions, so screen reader users can jump between them.
  • An accessibility support widget (UserWay) offering text-size, contrast and navigation adjustments. We treat this as a convenience for visitors, not as a substitute for accessible markup.
  • Ongoing review of page heading structure, image descriptions and form labelling.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following, and are working on them:

  • Our patient interest and newsletter forms are provided by a third-party service and embedded on the page. We do not control their markup, and they may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. If a form is not usable for you, please call us and we will take your information by phone.
  • Embedded video is hosted on YouTube. Captions are available, but they have not all been reviewed for accuracy on clinical terminology.
  • Heading order on some older pages does not descend one level at a time, which can make navigating by headings less predictable. We are correcting this as pages are updated.
  • Colour contrast across the site has not yet been fully audited against the 4.5:1 ratio WCAG sets for body text.

Alternative access

If any part of this website prevents you from getting the information you need or from requesting an appointment, please call (212) 621-7770. Our staff will help you by phone, and can schedule an appointment or send you information in another format. You will not be asked to use the website to become a patient.
