Integrative Psychiatry
Grounded In Evidence
I’m Beata Lewis, M.D., a triple board-certified psychiatrist in adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and integrative medicine.
Harvard Medical School didn’t just train me as a physician – it sparked a conviction that the best medicine is always asking better questions. That drive led me deeper into functional and integrative medicine, where I found the tools to investigate not just what a patient is experiencing, but why.
The result is a practice model I genuinely love: rigorous enough to satisfy the scientist in me, personal enough to honor each patient’s full story, and practical enough to produce real, measurable change.
I chair the American Psychiatric Association Integrative Psychiatry Caucus and teach Nutrition and Mental Health at NYU. My clinical team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists who share a belief that individuals deserve more than symptom-level treatment.
We welcome patients who are looking for a more comprehensive approach to their mental health care, and we work closely with referring clinicians across specialties.

What Our Patients Say About Us
Dr. Beata Lewis has always been such a valuable colleague; she shares her knowledge and support generously and genuinely cares about others' success. The clients I have sent her way have always felt well-treated and respected. I also recently got to experience her clinical care through an integrative wellness group offered to mental health practitioners. Using recorded videos and live discussions, she taught us so much about keeping ourselves healthy and how to institute better habits. I also participated in some functional testing that gave me incredibly important and insightful information about my body; she is patiently helping me to digest this information and make changes in response. I'm grateful for all of her expertise!
I had the privilege of being among the few fortunate participants selected to attend the workshop series organized and led by Dr. Beata Bliss Lewis, M.D. It was a truly transformative experience.Dr. Lewis created an exceptional balance of practical clinical knowledge and deep experiential learning. What set this program apart was the uniquely supportive and nurturing environment she offered. Dr. Lewis graciously opened her home to us, providing a warm, welcoming, and “homelike” atmosphere that fostered genuine connection, growth, and healing. She nourished us with holistically prepared meals, rejuvenated us with sauna sessions, and guided us in mind–body practices, all while demonstrating how integrative psychiatry can — and should — be practiced. Her teachings were not limited to the professional domain; they touched our personal lives in meaningful ways.As a result of this workshop, I rekindled my daily meditation practice, incorporated Qi Gong into my routine, and was inspired to reintroduce and expand the use of laboratory testing in my own clinical work.If you are looking to elevate your clinical practice, expand your healing approach, and grow both personally and professionally, I wholeheartedly recommend the workshop series led by Dr. Beata Bliss Lewis. It is a rare opportunity that will enrich your practice and your life.Michael I. Gurevich, M.D.
Bliss has built a transformative program, so thoughtfully designed and a truly holistic approach to coming back into balance, improving health, and moving beyond anxiety and burnout. She has a gift for connecting the dots between the foods we eat, the toxins we’re exposed to, the stress that builds up in our bodies and how that impacts mood and energy. Through her gentle guidance and structured process, I was able to reconcile parts of my lifestyle that were out of alignment. Working through these aspects have helped me feel lighter, more free and in control of my health! I cant recommend this program enough!
I was able to experience this offering by Dr. Lewis. It was a meaningful experience that I found enriching. She is a thorough, thoughtful, and wise psychiatrist who truly cares and understands the components of well being. Been seeing her for 8 and a half years almost and she is a gift. I have learned how to be happy and be happy with myself.
Dr. Lewis has a very informative blog and it is full of lots of useful information. I love looking in on it a couple times a week. Keep up the good work.
I got genetic testing done and it completely changed how I think about my lifelong symptoms. The test results triggered discontinuing my medications and instead replacing them with intensive exercise. Works much better for me.
I started seeing Dr. Lewis last year, when I was desperate for help. I had depression and terrible anxiety and I lost hope that I would ever find relief. I called and her assistant Ashley answered the phone and she was so helpful and caring. Dr. Lewis listened and cared, she was sympathetic, and she didn't judge me and I felt that I could tell her about what was going on with me. I learned a lit about anxiety and I don't have that kind of anxiety any more and I feel much more stable. She remembers the details of what I told her a long time ago. She did therapy with me and prescribed medication and supplements and also helped me improve my diet.
Dr. Lewis is both super smart and on the cutting edge of research in he field, and a thoughtful compassionate listener. She is great at getting to the nut of any issue and makes thoughtful recommendations for how to move forward. I've sent her multiple patients who give her great reviews and the kids she's worked with think she is super-cool. She gets my highest recommendation.
Not only is Dr. Lewis incredibly knowledgeable, but she is also one of those doctors who truly cares about people. She is thoughtful, patient, and relates to clients with compassion.
Dr. Lewis is a highly trained and credentialed psychiatrist. She is also warm and approachable and I truly feel seen and heard. Every experience I have had with her has left me feeling more confident and knowledgeable with better ways to approach my life situations and dilemmas. I am very grateful.
Dr. Lewis is kind and so knowledgeable. She really takes her time to hear everything that is going on, and she has many resources and tools to offer beyond just medication. She is truly interested in the whole person and is one of the best doctors I've encountered. Her medical education is top-notch and that is matched only by her bedside manner!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Bliss Protocol?

No clinical relationship is required to enroll.
Can I combine the Bliss Protocol with clinical care?
Yes. Patients seeing Dr. Lewis clinically can enroll in the Bliss Protocol alongside their care. The curriculum is designed to reinforce and deepen the clinical work, helping you understand the reasoning behind your treatment and take a more active role in your own health.
What does clinical care with Dr. Lewis involve?
Dr. Lewis provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. Depending on your clinical picture, this may include medication management when appropriate, functional laboratory testing, nutritional and lifestyle medicine, and referrals for therapy or neuromodulation.
What is functional medicine psychiatry?
