Dr. Beth Wecksell, PsyD

I am a bilingual (Spanish-English) Clinical Psychologist. I provide individual, group and family therapy to children, adolescents and adults.  I am drawn to this work for its power in creating meaning out of difficulty and promoting greater life fulfillment.

I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and relationship problems. I utilize an eclectic therapeutic framework that draws from psychodynamic psychotherapy, play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).  I often incorporate mindfulness-based techniques into therapy sessions, such as diaphragmatic breathing, visualization and body scanning.

I received a Psy.D. in School-Clinical Child Psychology from Pace University in 2013, and an M.S.Ed. in School Psychology in 2011. I attended Tufts University for my Bachelor’s degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2004.

My professional background has encompassed a range of settings and populations, such as the following: evidence-based treatment of children and families in foster care, trauma-focused therapy for veterans, psychological testing of hospitalized individuals, counseling and IEP evaluations of elementary and middle school students, and long-term supportive psychotherapy of high-functioning individuals.

I became fluent in Spanish as a young adult when teaching English and living with host families in Costa Rica, and further honed clinical Spanish skills during my postdoctoral fellowship at a VA Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I relish any opportunity to learn about other cultures, and thus strive to cultivate a therapeutic atmosphere that celebrates one’s cultural identity and uses it as a guiding force for positive change.
