Do These Symptoms Sound Familiar?
- Persistent anxiety
- Low mood
- Brain fog
- Fatigue
- Insomnia
- Difficulty concentrating
- Mood swings
- Memory issues
- Stress sensitivity
- Digestive problems
If you’ve been dealing with these symptoms, you’re not alone.
You’ve likely been told it’s “just stress” or “just anxiety.” You may have tried supplements, medications, therapies, and lifestyle changes—only to experience temporary relief or no improvement at all.
There may be a deeper reason why traditional approaches haven’t worked for you.
Why Traditional Mental Health Approaches Often Fall Short
Problem #1: They Only Address the Surface Symptoms
Traditional psychiatry often focuses on managing symptoms through medication without identifying the underlying physiological imbalances driving those symptoms. It’s like continuously mopping up water from a leaking pipe without fixing the actual leak.
Problem #2: They Miss the Mind-Body Connection
Your brain doesn’t operate in isolation from the rest of your body. Hidden inflammation, gut dysfunction, and hormonal imbalances directly impact your brain function—yet these factors are rarely investigated in mental health care.
How Inflammation Affects Your Mental Health
When your body has chronic inflammation, it’s like having a small fire burning throughout your system 24/7. This inflammation doesn’t just stay in your body—it jumps the fence into your brain.
What Happens When Inflammation Reaches Your Brain
It disrupts your brain’s chemical messengers
- Reduces serotonin and dopamine (your “feel good” chemicals)
- Interferes with motivation, focus, and emotional balance
It activates your brain’s immune cells
- Creates inflammation in your actual brain tissue
- Impairs how brain cells communicate with each other
It creates a stress-inflammation cycle
- Stress increases inflammation
- Inflammation creates more stress
- This cycle can worsen anxiety and depression
Why This Matters For You
Understanding this connection explains why addressing inflammation could be the missing piece in your mental health puzzle. This is especially true if:
- Conventional treatments haven’t fully helped
- You experience both physical and mental symptoms
- Your symptoms seem to fluctuate

Hi, I’m Dr. Bliss Lewis
I help people feel better by looking at the full picture—mind, body, and everything in between.
I’m a board-certified psychiatrist with training in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry, and I am board-certified in integrative medicine. I trained at Harvard College and Medical School, Columbia, and NYU, but what really matters to me is the way I work with people—by listening closely, looking for root causes, and getting curious about what’s actually driving their symptoms.
I created a program to help people get to the root of what’s going on. We use comprehensive lab testing, thoughtful use of medication when needed, nutrition and lifestyle support, and mind-body tools to get real results. And we move at a pace that works for your life.
My approach is practical, science-based, and deeply personal.
In addition to my clinical work, I teach at NYU and co-lead national efforts to bring more integrative approaches into psychiatry. I’ve also written three ADHD workbooks.
I’m not here to fix you—I’m here to partner with you, to ask better questions, and to help you feel like yourself again.
If you’re ready to move beyond just managing symptoms—and you have the motivation to look deeper, do the work, and address what’s really going on—I’d love to support you in finding real clarity, calm, and lasting energy.
