Clinical Care and Functional Medicine for
Mental Health Online Course

Welcome to Integrative Psychiatry and Functional Medicine with Dr. Beata Lewis, MD

Mental and physical health are closely connected, and treating one while ignoring the other often leaves people stuck. Many of my patients come to me after conventional care addressed their symptoms in isolation, without ever asking why those symptoms developed in the first place.

I’m a psychiatrist board certified in adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and integrative medicine, with more than 15 years of clinical experience. My work focuses on identifying the underlying drivers of mental health symptoms, whether they are psychological, biological, or both, and treating them together rather than in separate silos.

In practice, that means looking at the whole picture. Alongside a thorough psychiatric assessment, I draw on functional and integrative medicine to evaluate biological factors that often go unexamined, including inflammation, nutrient status, metabolic and hormonal balance, and gut health. Where the testing points to something treatable, I build a plan that may combine nutritional and lifestyle changes, conventional psychiatric care, and evidence-based approaches to trauma and stress.

A careful evaluation is also about knowing the limits. Not every psychiatric symptom has a biological cause, and not every lab finding explains how someone feels. The goal of an integrated assessment is to tell the difference, so that treatment matches what is actually driving the problem.

I also think you should know what each option involves, and what it costs, before you decide anything. You deserve enough information to make a clear choice without unexpected charges later.

My practice offers care at several levels. A structured online course for people who want clear guidance they can follow on their own. A comprehensive assessment with lab testing that identifies the specific factors at play for you. If you are interested in individual clinical care, please fill out the interest form.
